Bowie & Dick A4 size test sheet chemical indicators printed with concentric pattern chemical indicators. The chemical indicator changes color from yellow to dark brown/black indicating proper air removal. Inadequate air removal is visible by a lighter color near the center of the pattern which should otherwise be dark brown/black.
The Bowie & Dick chemical indicator type test sheets are designed to be used in standard assembled packages according to each country's regulations. The sheets are used to test air removal efficiency at 132-134 ºC in vacuum assisted steam sterilizers. The test pack should be positioned horizontally on the bottom shelf in an empty, already heated sterilizer. The sterilizer should run for 3.5 min - 134 ºC / 4 min - 132 ºC.
Warning!
Do not use Bowie & Dick test sheets for the removal of air voids in sterilizers with gravitational steam displacement, dry heat, ethylene oxide, or other low-temperature sterilization processes.
