A rapid immunochromatography-based test for the qualitative detection of human luteinizing hormone (LH) in urine.
Luteinizing hormone (LH) is always present in human urine. LH increases considerably in women just before the day that is most suitable for becoming pregnant. This is generally called the LH surge. This LH surge triggers ovulation and this means that eggs are released from the ovum. The egg can be fertilized only 6 to 24 hours after ovulation. This is why determining ovulation by LH surge testing is so important for women who like to get pregnant. The best times to test are 11 in the morning, 15 and 17 in the afternoon and 22 in the evening. Testing early in the morning may not give a good result because the expected LH values cannot be captured. If the LH surge needs to be caught, the test should be completed at later times.
