The Multi-Drug 10-Parameter Cassette is based on the principle of immunochromatography, combining the conjugated colloidal gold technique for the rapid, qualitative detection of specific drugs present in human urine at concentrations above the cut-off limit of the assay.

This type of rapid test generates only a preliminary analytical result; in order to obtain a confirmed analytical result, a test with a specific and superior chemical method will be used. The most widely used confirmatory method is based on the principle of gas chromatography/ mass spectometry (GC/MS). When reporting a result on drug use, clinical observations and professional opinions should be taken into account, especially in cases where the preliminary result is positive.
